Next Step Plus & Extended Post Care Support
Whether you’ve been living in foster care, kinship care or a residential program, Next Step Plus can support you with goals of your choice.
With program workers based at YETI, Next Step Plus provides information and advice, or individual case management and practical support such as:
- managing money and submitting funding applications;
- finding somewhere to stay and the ins and outs of housing and accommodation;
- training, jobs and getting a resume together;
- keeping safe, strong and healthy; and,
- relationships, including friends, mentors and family.

If you turned 18 after 1 July 2023, and you are leaving Child Safety Care you can get Extended Post Care Support (EPCS). An EPCS service will work with you to provide help with things like:
- finding a safe place to live
- staying connected to family, culture, Country and community
- applying for a job or enrolling in a training course
- getting to appointments
- your health and wellbeing needs.
If you leave care to live as an independent adult, you’ll get financial support from your EPCS service each year until your 21st birthday tohelp cover your everyday living costs. Your EPCS service will help you manage your budget and pay the bills. If you remain living with your carer family, Child Safety will continue paying the care allowance to your carers so they can look after you up to your 21st birthday.
